Congratulations! I'll be in touch soon!
This will be my last Show & Tell for awhile, (more details to come) but it is one that I am really excited to share with you.
I have always believed that a baby carrier is an essential piece of baby gear. Not only are there great benefits to wearing your baby, but there is also the reality that sometimes, with baby in tow, you still need to have your hands free.
So I was really excited to get to try out the new Active Carrier from BabyBjorn.
Ever since my pregnancy with Emma, I have had nagging lower back problems. And old college volleyball shoulders still plague me now and then, as well. This makes baby-wearing often uncomfortable for any length of time. So I am always on the lookout for a baby carrier that is comfortable and easy on my neck, back and shoulders.
The Active Carrier, however has been extremely helpful with all my babywearing "issues". The carrier has sturdy padded straps that are comfortable, not digging into my shoulders and back. And the best part, to me, of this carrier is the extra lumbar support in the back that can be adjusted with the carrier straps.
Among carriers that I've used, I believe this to be one of the easiest to transition into and get used to using. I have also found my children to adjust to it very easily, too. It can be used for newborns (8 pounds, 21 inches) and then transitioned into an outward facing position as baby grows older.
And let's also not forget the great colors that the carrier comes in. (I finally decided to stop being neutral in all my baby gear and opted for the pink and navy!)
And today, thanks to the generous folks at BabyBjorn, I have an Active Carrier to give away to one lucky MommyCoddle reader. Simply leave a comment on this post to be entered. I'll announce the winner on Thursday.
(Please note: This post is only open to US and Canada residents.BabyBjorn sent me an Active Carrier for this review.)
I'm 18 weeks pregnant and have been looking for a baby carrier. Thanks so much for the recommendation!

That's awesome! Would love to win one!

I have a wrap and a sling. I used the wrap with my middle son for over a year. We're having issues with the infant and the sling, though. He doesn't like the "can't hold your head up yet" positions. I'm hoping he'll like the forward-facing and hip carries better.

The active carrier looks great. And with only eight weeks left I am trying to get things together.

How generous! I have been researching baby carriers for a while, and would love to try this on my first little one coming early fall! Thank you for the giveaway.

Oh my gosh! What a FABULOUS giveaway! I am a huge, huge, huge believer in babywearing. I don't have any kids, but I'm a nanny, and I always amaze the moms I work for when they see how happy and content their babies become when they're able to share activities with you, or just snuggle in close when they need to rest. I haven't tried the Active line yet, but I've been looking into it because of the extra lumbar support. Thank you so much for such a generous giveaway!!!

My sister really REALLY needs one of these. My niece is growing into a little chunk and the last time I was home I pulled all the muscles on the left side of my back carrying her around for 2 days straight!

Thanks for the info...I am expecting my first in November and haven't yet decided on which brand/type to buy. This looks perfect as I've been having lots of back pain, too.
Posted by: Brooke | 07 July 2010 at 09:40 AM
That is a great thing. One of the women at church uses one and it is great since she can have her hand free to do other things which is good for her with having to older ones.

I would love to try it out with my six month old..He loves being carried. I am just not as strong as I would like to be.

I used my sling a ton with my first and now that I am only 8 (EIGHT! wah?) weeks away from our second I have a feeling that having hands free will come in handy :)

I had one with my first child, 6.5 years ago, and it was uncomfortable. They came out with the lumbar support ones *right* after we got ours, of course. :) I'd love to try it out again. thanks and enjoy your blog break!

If you are the woman in the picture you are so beautiful, really you look like a model! Any way I wanted to tell you that my girl is almost nine months old and that her reflux is almost gone, no more drugs, no more 40 min in vertical position, it feels so good! And It seemed like it wasn't going to end but it did, so hang in there that in no time you will be in the same place as I. ;o)
