I tried something new two days ago. It was one of those projects that was floating around in my head and I wondered if it would really look good, if it would work. I am by no means a quilter, nor do I have any experience, lessons, tools, etc. But I've been wanting to try a small quilt-type project. I love simple designs and patterns--circles, squares, a tree by itself, one small bird. This project obviously shows those qualities that I'm drawn to. It was probably the most therapeutic sewing I've done in awhile. I was doing what I wanted, my own ideas not based on something I saw someone else do. I was making it for my own pleasure and I really didn't care what another's opinion was of the final project because I knew that I LIKED IT. So here it is. It is small, only about the size of a sheet of paper. I showed it to my husband and he said, "I don't get it." Funny. But okay.
New Project #2:
A few days ago my aunt called wanting to know if we'd be willing to take one of her baby lambs that needs to be bottle fed. Of course, it didn't take long to decide. "Sunshine" arrived yesterday in all her wooly, wobbly legged-ness. We've been keeping her outside during the day in some grass with sun and a large tree for shade. And at night we tuck her into one of the stalls in the barn. She gobbles up bottles from the girls' hands and wags her tail in pure lamby pleasure. A perfect spring project.
oh how wonderful! i just love the circles and the colors! and that little lamb is adorable! (so is the other little lamb feeding her!)
loves!

Oh, I LOVE the mini quilt. I have the retro orange floral fabric and love it to death. I wonder if your little girl will become a veternarian one day, seeing how she is gaining all this hands-on experience caring for all these cute little animals. In elementary school my sister decided she wanted to be a veterinarian one day...and now she's living her dream.

I really like your colour combination. I've never quilted before, but your project looks lovely.

Project #1...there's nothing strange about it! Tell hubby it is called an Art Quilt. You put it on your wall instead of on your bed. Hey, my first quilt--actually, my only quilt--was 5x5 inches! Tell him it's okay, real art is often misunderstood :-P

It is just lovely! I love the circles and the colors are perfect. I had a good laugh because my husband says that exact sort of thing!!

Your quilt project is great, based on why you did and what you got out of it. By the way it looks great too!
The lamb is too precious, what a great experience for your girls. That stone wall in one of the pictures is really cool too, pretty scenery!

This is wonderful Molly. I love the shapes and patterns you put together. There is no right of passage that marks a quilter, you know. You are one if you want to quilt. So there. And that sweet lamb, god how cute is that/?? What an experience. Can I come there and stay with you and feed Sunshine? xo

Molly, Your quilt turned out beautiful! Love the colors and fabric you picked.
And the lamb.....I always wanted a lamb, how lucky are your girls. You guys will have to sing the Mary had a little lamb song, just replace it with the girls names instead.

the lamb is pretty much the cutest thing ever. :)
and...I think we're the same person sometimes. i LOVE that quilting project!! and I have been planning almost the same type of project for myself (except placemats for our kitchen table). b/c I too, want to quilt very badly and have loads of fabric for just such an occasion, but I have no experience in it nor any proper quilting tools. except the most basic of basics tiny, tiny sewing machine. haha.
that's the cutest thing ever...love the colors, the designs, etc. I'm with you on the minimal, too. hence, we are the same person. :)
can't wait for my necklace!! hehe. perhaps it will be there this afternoon!
.♥.
